Learn to Play the Bagpipes

In addition to my services as a piper for hire, I also presently offer lessons to students wishing to learn to play the bagpipes themselves. I am open to students of all ages and experience levels, including complete beginners, returning players, or those just looking to supplement self-education with occasional hands-on reinforcement. I offer lessons in person, but am also amenable to virtual sessions if desired. After procuring your beginning materials such as your practice chanter + standard "Green Book," my standard approach is to hold one-hour weekly (or bi-weekly) individualized lessons, spanning three broad phases: (1) working on learning the basic notes, embellishments, and techniques; (2) special focus on learning and memorizing a small handful of selected tunes and expressing them musically; (3) graduating to the full pipes and working on breathing techniques, coordination, tuning, and maintenance. I am of course always open to working longer or shorter lessons, and more or less frequent meetings upon request. Between lessons, I consider myself always on call for my students, and am available to answer any questions or provide any needed audio recordings as well. I encourage anyone interested to reach out to me, and I'd be glad to answer any questions and provide any further information or advice to new beginners.
